Researchers at biotechnology department of Industrial Mushrooms in ACECR center of Mashad achieved the technical know-how of producing an eatable-medicinal mushroom. Public relations office of ACECR reports: this technical achievement was made through a research project of ACECR researchers in Mashad who could produce this kind of mushroom out of agricultural waste materials especially wood splinters. According to this report, Shiitake (Lentinula edodes), known as Chinese black mushroom in English, has culinary uses and can be used medicinally too. Although the global production of such a mushroom is increasing, no comprehensive data has been published on the commercial production of this mushroom in Iran. It is noteworthy that the biotechnology department of industrial mushrooms in Mashad has already reached the know-how of net cultivation and production of Shiitake mushroom. Assistant professor of agriculture department at Ferdusi University in Mashad and the faculty member of biotechnology department of industrial mushrooms in ACECR center of Mashad , Dr. Majid ‘Azizi, implemented this project in cooperation with agricultural engineers Shadi Shahtahmasebi and Leila Razzaqi.
